WHO: In support of the Child Witness Centre. Now in our 35th year, the Child Witness Centre provides support, education and advocacy through the criminal justice system for children and youth – and their families – who are victims or witnesses of abuse or crime.
WHAT: The 2nd Annual Hat Walk at Cambridge Ribfest – where walkers of all ages will join Jack Sparrow for a leisurely, fully-accessible strong through Cambridge’s picturesque Riverside Park. It’s a celebration of family, friends and coworkers whose fundraising efforts will support the Child Witness Centre. Walk as little or as long, as fast or as slow, as you like!
WHEN: Sunday, August 12th. Opening ceremonies begin at 4pm, but come early to enjoy all of the family fun that the Cambridge Ribfest offers. Admission and parking are free!
WHY: Your fundraising efforts will support our work in the Child and Youth Advocacy Centre (CYAC) – a child and youth-friendly place where allegations of abuse are investigated by specialized professionals who ensure that young people and their families are supported through the process. As part of the support offered by the CYAC, Advocates from the Child Witness Centre walk with these brave children and youth, and their families, connecting them to services and helping them have a voice and fostering healing, hope and wellbeing.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to The Steele Group for their leadership in visioning, organizing and championing this event.
Thank you to all of the sponsors, players and volunteers who made this year’s event so extraordinary!
The 4th annual Westmount Tradition Charity Doubles Tennis Tournament, held June 8th to 10th, welcomed 110 players to three days of competition and camaraderie in support of the Child Witness Centre.
Through players’ fundraising efforts and the generosity of donors, sponsors and businesses – almost $60,000 was raised, funds that will be shared equally between the Child Witness Centre and the Grand River Hospital Foundation to support community initiatives that ensure a healthy, safe community for all.
Our heartfelt thanks is shared with event sponsors, silent and live auction donors, players and their supporters for their dedication and generosity – your partnership ensures that more than 25 children, youth and their families will have the support of an Advocate at the newly-opened Child and Youth Advocacy Centre (CYAC) – helping to foster hope and empowering them towards strong futures.
Thank you to our sponsors!
2018 Pancake Lunch Success!
A Shrove Tuesday tradition for 20 years, our 2018 Pancake Lunch raised an incredible $28,000 in just a few short hours.
The event, held Tuesday at Bingemans’ Marshall Hall, welcomed dignitaries, business owners, community champions and friends of the agency – totalling almost 600 guests. The funds raised will support our work, ensuring children and youth who are, or may become, victims or witnesses of abuse or crime will receive the support, education and advocacy needed as they journey through the criminal justice process.
We would also like to recognize Event Sponsors Septimatech Group Inc. and St. Jerome’s University – their support for the Child Witness Centre’s Pancake Lunch is deeply appreciated.
Thank you again for joining hands with us on Tuesday – the sense of hope and commitment to building a community where children and youth are safe, valued and heard was simply incredible. And we are grateful.
We are already beginning our plans for next year’s event – please circle Tuesday, March 5, 2019 on your calendar!
