Leadership Team

David Morneau, Honours BA, LLB

Executive Director

David Morneau has an Honours Degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Laws Degree. For over 20 years, David represented individuals and families in transition in the Waterloo Region and Wellington County. David spent most of his career advocating for children and youth within the justice system and beyond, ensuring that they were empowered and had a voice. He recognizes the importance of collaboration and tailoring approaches to meet the needs of individuals. David carries this passion for helping youth and families in his role as Executive Director for the Child Witness Centre.

Meagan Copland, MSW, RSW

Child and Youth Advocate Program Manager

Meagan is a Registered Social Worker with a Masters in Social Work degree.  She joined the Child Witness Centre as a Caseworker in the Child Witness Program having worked with vulnerable children and youth in various communities for more than 15 years. She has been managing the Child and Youth Advocate Program in the Waterloo Region Child and Youth Advocacy Centre since it opened in May 2016. In this role, Meagan works with the Advocates and collaboratively with community partners to support the individual needs of children and youth who experience abuse and their families, beginning with a criminal investigation and continuing until their needs are met.

Tenley Soares, Honours BA, CFRE

Director of Development

Tenley joined the leadership team at the Child Witness Centre in August 2019 bringing over a decade of fundraising experience in the healthcare sector to the position, as well as a strong financial services industry background.  Tenley will oversee the fundraising for the agency and is excited to implement a robust fundraising program including a fulsome leadership gifts program.  Tenley has substantial relationship building expertise and will serve as a sincere and compelling ambassador to existing and future donors and funders.

Lusine Unanyan, MSW, RSW

Child Witness Program Manager

Lusine joined the Child Witness Centre team as a Child Witness Program Manager in August 2020. Her background includes child welfare and anti-human trafficking fields, investigating crimes against children and working with and supporting victims of crime. In her role, Lusine oversees the Child Witness Program, works collaboratively with community partners, and supports the work of the Caseworkers as they engage with children, youth, and families involved with the Program.
