WATERLOO REGION - In light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Child Witness Centre has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Youth Symposium.
The Youth Symposium, a one-day program run over three consecutive days, was scheduled for April 7-9, 2020. Child Witness Centre staff and volunteers had been looking forward to welcoming 4,000 Grade 8 students and teachers from Waterloo Region, Guelph and Wellington County to the 17th annual Youth Symposium.
The Youth Symposium features presentations from inspiring speakers covering a wide range of topics on issues affecting students’ overall health and wellbeing. The presenters deliver powerful messages, educating and inspiring students and giving them tools and strategies to help them develop resiliency and build strong futures.
“We understand this is disappointing news,” said David Morneau, Executive Director of the Child Witness Centre, “but we recognize this is necessary to protect the health and safety of the students and teachers, our staff and volunteers, and the broader community.”
The Child Witness Centre looks forward to offering the next Youth Symposium in 2021.
