Our Endowment Fund
Giving sustainability to our mission is easier because of the foresight and generosity of Jim Balsillie and Heidi Henschel. Thanks to them, our Child Witness Centre Endowment Fund at Waterloo Region Community Foundation provides some annual guaranteed revenue.
Our endowment fund vision is to have sustainable funding in place so our team can focus on serving young victims, without the heavy need to fundraise. With the building blocks in place, we are counting on the generosity of those who care to make this vision a reality.
- Currently, our endowment fund has a balance of just over $72,000, which provides us with over $3,000 towards our work every year.
- Our next goal is to grow the fund to $3 million, to generate 10% of our annual revenue. This would be enough to eliminate our waitlist.
- Our long-term goal is a balance of $30 million. As it stands, the annual return would cover the cost to support all our clients each year.
For every $1,000 we receive from our endowment fund, one more child victim can receive our support to begin to heal and move forward with resiliency! Their trauma is greatly reduced, and future becomes much brighter. It makes a world of difference for them and their family.
As one past client shared, “I am grateful for being supported through a very difficult time in my life so I could move forward.”
Shown right: Karen and Marilyn Wilkinson's combined gift of $10,000 towards our endowment fund will provide an annual payout of $500 (which is a 5% return) towards our work, indefinitely!
