Outreach and Education
At Child Witness Centre, we’re passionate about educating, informing, and empowering our community through awareness, prevention, and support services. Through targeted outreach, collaborative partnerships, and evidence-based resources, we aim to foster a safer and more inclusive environment for all.
Our initiatives in this area include:
- Core Presentations: We provide presentations to local schools, organizations, community groups, and the broader public about the programs and services we provide and related topics (see below).
- Hate Crime Education: These sessions define hate crimes and explore their causes and impacts – while also offering clear guidance on how to identify, report, and respond to incidents. These talks include information on the legal process and available supports for victims as well.
- Customized Outreach: Are you looking for a presentation focused on a topic other than our core offering? Our outreach team is happy to connect for a consultation about your learning goals to develop a presentation on a topic of your choice. We’ll work together to ensure the content we deliver meets the needs of your group.
Our core presentation topics include:
- Child Witness Centre: Our Programs and Supports
- Introduction to the Canadian Criminal Justice System
- Canine Assisted Intervention (CAI) and Facility Dogs
- Introduction to Erin’s Law
- Relationship Red Flags
- Safe and Unsafe Secrets
- Introduction to Trauma
Please contact Rebecca Heibein-Kursikowski, Program Operations and Partnership Manager, to discuss further or schedule a presentation. Email her at rebecca.heibein-kursikowski@childwitness.com.
